4 Real Blog Success Metrics You need to Track

  • Blog Success Metrics

Nowadays, with all the evolution of technology and the development of the online world, it’s indeed a pity not to practice all the options the Internet provides you.

That covers blogging, too. Publishing articles and running your blog is simply not concluded without the measure of your success.

Imagine you cook a delicious meal. You pour your whole effort into it and even put on some decorations at the finish to make it tempting. And that’s it. The close of the story.

The meal will not come out their self from the pantry and settles only for yourself to notice and eat.

Is it fair? Was that your entire purpose all the time or you needed to see it served to a broad majority of people and gathered their opinions on it?

The meal here is actually your blog, and the acknowledgment of the users can be really measured. When we talk about the blog, that measurement is represented through the metrics you should examine.

Ready to discuss which metrics can benefit you see how your blog influences the users and what you get from it? Then let’s proceed!

#1. Attractiveness

Blog Success Metrics

The foremost thing you can measure is how engaging your blog looks to others. In order to conclude its success, check if it meets the goals you have set in the first place.

By that I mean, see if your posts have touched the target readers and either your products or services are alluring fairly to the audience. The responses to these queries lie in these important metrics:

  • Rankings in the search engines
  • Page per visit
  • Views per page
  • Email sign-ups and RSS feeds
  • How many users, followers or fans you get
  • Media links
  • New visitors, which indicate that your content is engaging enough to new users
  • Returning visitors showing that you’ve kept your quality all the time

Also, take a look at how the visitors are coming to your blog. What is the origin they are getting in from? Are they finding your blog via a Google organic search, from social media channels or from a referral link?

Get to know the trends on your site.

By thoroughly examining these metrics you’ll be able to learn how your target readers act on your blog and how convincing it is to them. That’s an outstanding start, you must realize.

#2. Interactions

Blog Success Metrics

Another interesting group of metrics is the ones related to the interactions of the users with your blog.

With them, you can know if the visitors only read quietly and then walk away or they stick around to engage with your content and share it on social media.

This data is precious for the only reason that your blog is that more successful if more and more users are communicating with it.

Some impressive metrics that go with this are:

  • Time they contributed on your blog
  • Clicks on your content
  • Comments left in the feed
  • Likes and shares on social media
  • Retweets and favorites
  • Discussion and questions
  • Rating of your content
  • Subscriptions
  • Referrals

All of these are great implications of how engaged readers are in your content. That’s why apart from analyzing the blog as a complete try seeing into different blog posts, too.

Understanding how much shares or comments an individual post has got will point out the unique interest in that topic and inspire you to write further related to that.

As you can see all is correlated in its own way.

#3. Leads

Blog Success Metrics

The main contribution to the success of your blog or business is the number of leads you’re able to generate. Yes.

Having people willing to follow your idea and be a part of it is a real blessing. That includes turning them into your customers or subscribers that will complete the target of your blog.

Not to sound too rough or anything, but without leads, the whole blogging experience is almost equal to a waste.

So keep an open eye on the metrics connected to this aspect:

  • Downloads
  • Registrations
  • Click-through to certain pages
  • Subscriptions
  • Visitors per day

These are only some you can use to measure the leads you get.

Blog Success Metrics

Despite the fact that these metrics are pretty related to the previous ones, I chose to group them in a separate section for the single reason that they’re just too important.

As much as you might not believe it, building links to and from your blog is an essential regard of your blog’s success.

It’s crucial that you know how many inbound links from other sites to your own pages you get.

This way you’ll get to know which topics your readers are more interested and concentrate on enriching them in the future.

Remember, a long-term plan is the best one if you want to grow your success. The same goes for outbound links, too.

You have to make sure that your blog is connected to other quality blogs out there or else the users will think of you as unprofessional.

Look at it this way. If you don’t measure the outbound link metrics, you might end up associating to dead blogs or ones that post content full of spams and inappropriate information.

I guess now you realize the value of these metrics in a better way.

That points us to the measurement of your blog’s success and all the perks it delivers in the online era.

Not only that you’ll see how engaging your blog is to readers, how curious they are in it or how much they communicate with it, but you’ll also understand how many likely clients and subscribers you’ll get and either the blog is connected to appropriate sites and blogs.

That’s something that shouldn’t be neglected. So, come on, explore all the metrics and tell us how successful your blog is in the comments!

That is probably the most comprehensive list of blog metrics online at the moment.
The one factor that seemed to be missing was the bounce rate. Knowing how long
your readers spend on your blog can indicate that they are not finding the
information that they are looking for quickly enough or that they are scanning
through what you have to say. Either way, it is an effective way to measure the
    value of your content.

    Hey Anuradha,

Blogging is a long run which requires one special quality which is the patience. The success metrics mentioned above are worth following.

The interaction you’re having with your readers, matters. What are the number of shares, comments, subscribers etc matter?

The attractiveness is yet an another metric to focus on. Chasing just your dream wouldn’t do. It’s important to keep the pace with a better design.

    An informative post indeed.

    Hi,
Awesome tips there and I can’t tell you how important these are.
Good writing, consistency, and the act of pushing the content around. Then, doing this for years before traffic comes pouring in and then you begin to make sense of that influx and do something about it.
Blogging is business, and it should be treated as such. Most people get into this thinking that it should be easy, but they’ll realize (sooner or later) that it’s not.
Imagine writing everyday, for years, even before the first dollar comes in or even the first comment. No wonder it’s getting harder than it should be.

Indeed they look so simple and appear to be of no worth, but this “simple task” can really change your blogging career.
    Thanks for that.
